Philadelphia police are investigating the death of a 66-year-old American Airlines flight attendant after she was found in her hotel room with a “cloth in her mouth.”
Police in Philadelphia are looking for clues about how a 66-year-old flight attendant died at the Philadelphia Marriott Airport on Monday, September 25, 2023.
NBC Philadelphia reports that the incident is under investigation by homicide detectives due to the “suspicious” nature of how she was found.
Flight attendant found in room Monday night with no signs of forced entry
According to the NBC affiliate, the flight attendant was found “unresponsive with a rag in her mouth” in her room. It was discovered on Monday evening around 10:40, but it is not clear who discovered it. Five minutes later, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say homicide detectives are investigating the incident, despite the fact that there were no signs of forced entry and the flight attendant was on “several medications.” Due to the circumstances, police believe the aviation employee suffered “sudden death.” No weapons were found in the hotel room and no arrests have been made in the case.
In a statement to NBC News, American said they were “devastated” by the news and would “make sure everyone affected has the support they need at this difficult time.” Both the American and Marriott locations said they will continue to cooperate with police as they complete their investigation.
